We are proud to announce that Flying Scooter Productions has been nominated for two Emmy Awards by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
These nominations recognize our short documentary The Ocean – Five Years and our Turner’s Dairy documentary Turning Moments Into Memories for 95 Years, both from producing partners Courtney Gumpf and Jenni Schlieper, scripted and directed by Schlieper.
Flying Scooter Productions has now earned nine Emmy nominations, along with two Webby nominations, four Anthem Awards, 17 Telly Awards, a Silver Anvil Award, and a CLIO nomination. While we’re incredibly proud of those milestones, what means the most is seeing these stories connect with people. That’s why we do this.

The Ocean – Five Years
This nomination is an incredible milestone in our journey with The Ocean – Five Years.
The film tells the story behind the album of the same name. Ryan McCutcheon, a
19-year-old college student and percussionist, was killed in a car accident in September 2017. Five years later, his younger brother, Brett, recorded “The Ocean – Five Years” with June Bracken and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The film showcases the album’s score while telling the story of a brother and family determined to give back to their community through hope and music.

It is not just a story of grief, but also one of love and hope.”
As our first film festival release, this documentary took us farther than we ever imagined. It screened at 10 film festivals around the world, winning Best Documentary at the Vienna Independent Film Festival, receiving the Audience Award at the Pittsburgh Shorts & Script Competition, and closing the 43rd Three Rivers Film Festival.
The Ocean – Five Years has continued to connect with audiences at home, now streaming on PBS Passport, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV
Turner’s Dairy – Turning Moments Into Memories for 95 Years
Our second Emmy nomination celebrates a different kind of story — one rooted in legacy and community. Nearly a century of Pittsburgh history. This film traces Turner’s Dairy Farms from its start with three cows and a vision to its place today as a Pennsylvania dairy institution.
The film was shot on location across local farms and Turner’s Dairy production facilities, highlighting the team whose dedication has kept the company thriving across generations.
